As a Service Asset and Configuration Analyst reporting to the Configuration Manager, this role is instrumental in establishing and maintaining a robust enterprise-level Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and implementing the Common Service Data Model (CSDM) from the ground up. Working closely with the IT Service Management (ITSM) team, the analyst contributes to the successful delivery of the Configuration Management Plan and ensures alignment with broader service management and operational objectives.
This specialization focuses on the governance, accuracy, and strategic value of configuration data across the organization's digital infrastructure. The analyst plays a key role in ensuring that all Configuration Items (CIs) including hardware, software, networks, documentation, and personnel are properly identified, recorded, and maintained throughout their lifecycle. They also ensure that relationships between CIs are clearly defined and mapped, enabling effective service modeling, impact analysis, and root cause identification.
Once the CMDB implementation project transitions to business-as-usual (BAU), the analyst will take ownership of ongoing configuration management activities, including:
- Conducting audits and reviews to verify the physical existence of service provider CIs and ensuring they are accurately recorded in the CMDB.

- Creating and managing configuration baselines for hardware and software to support change control, compliance, and service restoration.
In addition to technical oversight, the analyst contributes to strategic initiatives by developing CMDB governance frameworks, implementing automated discovery tools, and producing reports and dashboards for stakeholders. They ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations, mitigate risks associated with unauthorized changes, and support continuous improvement efforts to enhance CMDB maturity and usability.
