
Support Worker

**Duties and responsibilities may include**:
**1. Support Participants to develop skills according to their goals**
**2. Provide physical assistance as required. This may include: feeding, toileting, bathing, grooming, transfers/hoisting, administering medication, cooking, transport, assistance using public transport, domestic duties, shopping and participating in activities with participants.**
**3. Establish effective communication with the participants using whatever means of communication is appropriate for each individual and liaise with families and or advocates when required.**
**4. Assist with planning and facilitation of meaningful program activities.**
**5. Support and actively encourage participant’s participation in decision making about their own program and about the service.**
**6. Work with other agencies and organisations to facilitate participant access to activities where required.**
**7. Provide adequate support to participants and take account of their decision making in all matters with due regard to Duty of Care, Work Health and Safety, and Abacada’s policies and procedures.**
**8. Accurately complete administrative tasks as required. This may include reading/writing/typing: e.g shift reports, participant progress notes and other required documentations.**
**9. Be aware and sensitive to the needs of people who are from Aboriginal or culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and assist with their integration into the service.**
**10.. Be aware and sensitive to participants’ right to their own personal opinions, values, beliefs and preferences. (For example religion, sexual preference).**
**11. Attend and contribute to staff meetings, supervision meetings, and other relevant meetings as required and use information/feedback to continuously improve work performance.**

**Salary**: $28.00 - $38.00 per hour
