Head of Engineering – Retail

$240,000 - $300,000 + Super

Location: Sydney - Hybrid

We're partnering with a leading retailer undertaking a large-scale digital and data transformation. They are now seeking a Head of Engineering to lead the design and delivery of modern engineering practices, scale high-performing teams, and build enterprise-grade platforms that enable advanced applications of machine learning and artificial intelligence.

This role will shape the engineering strategy, drive technical excellence, and ensure solutions deliver measurable business impact at scale.

The Opportunity:
As Head of Engineering, you'll take ownership of the company's Engineering strategy, software roadmap, and engineering initiatives. Working closely with executive leaders across marketing, supply chain, eCommerce, and operations.

What You'll Be Responsible For:

  • Defining and executing a clear strategy aligned to business objectives
  • Leading the design and delivery of initiatives across key functions (e.g. personalisation, forecasting, pricing, inventory optimisation)
  • Overseeing the growth and development of a cross-functional teams
  • Championing the adoption of modern platforms and tooling
  • Engaging senior stakeholders to embed data-driven decision-making

What You Bring:

  • Proven experience leading Engineering teams within retail, eCommerce, or consumer environments
  • Familiarity with modern cloud stacks (e.g. AWS, GCP)
  • Excellent stakeholder and team leadership skills and ability to engage from the boardroom to the engineering floor
  • Visionary thinking paired with commercial execution
