The Role

We have an opportunity for a
Technical Consultant – Data Security
to join our Cyber Security Practice at Quorum, based in Sydney, Brisbane,
OR
Melbourne.

As a Technical Consultant – Data Security, you will work directly with our clients to deliver Microsoft Data Security projects, with a focus on the Microsoft Purview suite of tools. You will be responsible for implementing solutions, configuring policies, and applying best practices to enhance data security, compliance, and governance.

You will work across multiple engagements, translating client requirements into practical technical solutions and ensuring successful delivery from planning through to completion. This is a hands-on delivery role where you'll apply your technical expertise to design and implement robust data security solutions, troubleshoot issues, and ensure compliance with security and governance standards.

What are we looking for

We're looking for a Technical Consultant – Data Security with strong hands-on experience and a solutions-focused mindset. You will be confident in delivering Microsoft Purview implementations and related Microsoft security technologies, while collaborating effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.

A natural problem-solver, you'll anticipate risks, identify gaps, and implement effective solutions to protect sensitive data while meeting security, compliance, and governance best practices.

Role Requirements

  • Experience & Expertise
    – 3+ years' experience designing, implementing, and optimising Microsoft Purview solutions across enterprise environments.
  • Technical Proficiency
    – Strong technical expertise in Microsoft Purview, including Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Information Protection (MIP), Data Governance, and Insider Risk Management. Skilled in PowerShell scripting for automation and KQL for data queries. Experience with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Entra ID (Azure AD), and Microsoft Sentinel.
  • Security & Compliance
    – Knowledge of data security principles, Zero Trust architecture, and regulatory compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, ISO Ability to configure and optimise security controls in line with industry best practices.
  • Project Delivery & Implementation
    – Proven experience delivering Microsoft Purview implementations end-to-end, including data discovery, classification, encryption, and governance. Ability to work across multiple customer engagements, ensuring high-quality delivery and adherence to best practices.
  • Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
    – Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to convey complex security concepts in a clear and actionable way. Comfortable collaborating with both executive and technical stakeholders.
  • Adaptability & Problem-Solving
    – Able to remain focused and deliver results in dynamic, high-pressure environments. Proactive in identifying risks and resolving technical challenges.
  • Integrity & Professionalism
    – A strong sense of ethics, accountability, and discretion when handling sensitive security matters. Committed to ongoing professional development and staying ahead of emerging threats and Microsoft advancements.
