Where you'll be working

John Hunter Children's Hospital (JHCH) is a leading facility located in Newcastle, New South Wales. As part of the John Hunter Health Complex, JHCH provides specialised paediatric care to children and young people across the Hunter New England Local Health District and beyond. The hospital is renowned for its collaborative, family-centred approach and commitment to excellence in clinical care, education, and research.

What you'll be doing

The Audiology Department provides comprehensive specialist hearing services to children and young people across HNELHD, with a limited tertiary-level service to families in Northern NSW, and a limited adult service on a need's basis.

Services include:

  • Infant diagnostics
  • General paediatric audiology
  • ENT/Audiology-led pathways

Children can be referred to JHCH Audiology by specialist doctors across the district if they are identified as having, or being at risk of having, hearing loss. Care and treatment are guided by evidence-based practices and collaborative care pathways. Working on-site at JHCH, you'll join a small team of caring, enthusiastic specialist Audiologists who deliver both inpatient and outpatient services, including advanced diagnostic hearing assessments in theatres or under anaesthesia where required.

About you

You are a highly skilled audiologist with extensive experience in paediatric audiology, preferably within a tertiary or specialist setting. You bring advanced clinical diagnostic and case management skills, with a strong ability to make sound clinical decisions independently. Your excellent communication and interpersonal abilities allow you to build effective working relationships with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams. You demonstrate leadership in clinical supervision and mentoring, supporting the development of junior staff and students. Passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centred care, you are committed to improving outcomes for children and families through innovation, collaboration, and evidence-based practice.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree or equivalent in Audiology and eligible to be a member of Audiological Society of Australia.
