Fitter Turner

We are looking for a fitter turner/machinist or anyone with a relevant engineering trade to be part of our metal spinning team. Bring your willingness to learn and we will train you on how to setup and program parts on our CNC spinning machines.

Apprentices are welcome to apply as we will train and upskill the right person.

The Company

Woodland Metal Spinning is a well-established Australian-owned and operated manufacturer based in Minto in South West Sydney combining traditional craftsmanship with up-to-date technology to produce high quality metal products including cookware, furniture, instruments and machine parts.

The workshop is equipped for CNC metal spinning, laser cutting, CNC controlled folding, punching, turning and milling, metal pressing, welding, finishing and assembly.

The Job

The Fitter/Machinist will be working with conventional and CNC equipment to manufacture a range of metal products.

Applicants should have a relevant trade background and some understanding of engineering. They should be confident working with manual lathes, running machines, and using hand tools. Apprentices are welcome to apply as training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Operating conventional and CNC lathes
• Reading and interpreting drawings
• Problem solving
• Working independently and as part of a team

Working hours

The business operates on a 38-hour week with 6.30am-3.06pm shifts Monday to Thursday, and a midday finish on Fridays. There is opportunity for occasional overtime hours.

Skills and attributes

• Relevant engineering trade experience
• Willingness to learn
• Experience with CNC equipment, preferable but not essential
• Good communication
• Attention to detail
• Commitment to safety
