The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) leads the sustainable development of Western Australia's regions and agriculture, aquaculture, food and fisheries sectors.   • Be part of a team making a difference to state and regional development and environmental outcomes
  • Provide support functions that progress the Ord River Irrigation Area (ORIA) expansion and critical environmental initiatives
  • Support other DPIRD-led development projects

About the opportunity

There is currently one (1) position, with the possibility of extension and/or permanency, available for immediate filling. The position that is filled will depend on the successful candidate's illustrated skills and experience.

The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development is seeking a new team member to carry out essential fieldwork, administrative tasks, and project support work in the Ord, ensuring compliance with environmental approvals held by the state and facilitating the transfer of approvals to development proponents.

Level 3 Project Support Officer

Level 3 Project Support Officers coordinate project tasks, prepare reports and meeting materials, assist with documentation, and support procurement and finance processes. Some field work is a requirement of this role. They liaise with stakeholders, maintain tracking systems and monitor progress, among other duties.

Level 4 Project Officer

Level 4 Project Support Officers contribute to the development and delivery of departmental projects by coordinating reports, briefings, and stakeholder communications. They conduct research and analysis to inform recommendations, monitor project progress, support evaluations, and assist with risk management, among other duties. Some field work is a requirement of this role.

Level 5 Project Officer

Level 5 Project Officers contribute to the development and implementation of departmental projects, represent the department on committees, and build strong stakeholder relationships. They manage reporting and documentation, conduct in-depth research and analysis to inform strategic decisions, monitor project performance, and support evaluations, among other duties. Some field work is a requirement of this role.

We are looking for individuals with:

  • Strong ability to work autonomously and think logically
  • Demonstrated experience and capability in conducting fieldwork
  • Strong understanding of remote driving and work health and safety
