These offices work primarily as small teams to deliver projects within each geographic region, but also assist other branches with specialised skills or to meet specific project needs.

You will be an environmentally and creatively minded individual, who wishes to participate in all aspects of Envirocom services.

This will result in regional as well as interstate travel on occasions.

ABOUT THE ROLE – A unique lifestyle opportunity

The Waste Educator & Community Engagement, role is a lifestyle opportunity offering the right candidate a full-time permanent position in Orange, NSW.

The role will involve regional travel to numerous central NSW towns with tasks including community displays, school presentations, bin inspections and occasional waste auditing / project involvement.

We are an essential services industry, offering stability to employees and reliability to our customers.

This position is a permanent, full-time Monday to Friday with occasional weekend and after-hours work required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordination and delivery of education presentation to school aged children

• Coordination and delivery of shopping centre and other community displays

• Reporting on the interactions and presentations

• Participating in data collection and behavioural observation projects including bin inspections and waste segregation audits

• Engagement and liaison with residents and the community at the kerbside / in the community

• Provide professional customer service and community engagement

• Ability to prioritise and perform duties in a varied role

• Facilitate flow of information

• Able to multi-task and demonstrate an enthusiasm and determination to perform work tasks

• Demonstrate the ability to build rapport and relationships with all stakeholders

• Commit to JJ's Waste values and be willing to embrace workplace diversity

• Be dedicated to achieving high standards of safety compliance

• Well-developed people and relationship skills

ABOUT YOU

• Knowledge, or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge, of kerbside waste services – recycling, food and garden waste etc

• Willingness to engage in physical research projects including frequent early morning walking bin inspections, and educational intervention programs

• Reasonable level of computer literacy, including an understanding of basic Excel functions

• Confidence in verbal communication skills, including customer service and face to face public engagement

• The ability to work alone and within a multi-disciplinary team

• Class C drivers licence - essential

• Be dedicated and reliable; we are an essential service industry

• An understanding of sustainability or the environmental field, with an interest in community education, behaviour change and communication
