About the role

Are you an experienced and dedicated Site Team Leader looking to take on a challenging and rewarding role in the cemetery industry? Geraldton Cemetery is seeking a full-time Site Team Leader – Cemetery Worker to oversee the day-to-day operations of our cemetery located in Geraldton, WA 6530.

What you'll be doing

  • Supervise and coordinate the work of the cemetery grounds team to ensure the overall maintenance and presentation of the cemetery grounds.
  • Assist with performing and/or overseeing routine Cremations.
  • Assist with preparation of gravesite for Burials.
  • Perform hands-on cemetery work such as backfilling gravesites, lawn mowing, and general grounds maintenance.
  • Liaise with families and funeral directors to ensure smooth, professional and compassionate service
  • Maintain accurate records and data related to cemetery operations
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental regulations
  • Provide leadership, training and development for the grounds team

What we're looking for

  • Significant experience in a cemetery operations or grounds maintenance role, with a proven track record of leading and motivating a team
  • Strong understanding of cemetery operations and regulations, including workplace health and safety requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with families, funeral directors and other stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
  • Proficient in the use of gardening and landscaping equipment
  • A Certificate III or higher in Horticulture or a related field (landscaping etc.) would be highly regarded.
  • Excavator Licence - obtained or willing to obtain ticket.
  • Front End Loader Ticket - obtained or willing to obtain ticket.
