Department overview: 
The Australian Middle Office is responsible for the verification and allocation of all AUD trades executed through Instinet Australia Pty Ltd. Various other functions are performed by this department, including attending to client queries, the running of various reconciliations and liaison with various stakeholders.

Role description:
The primary role for the Australian MO is verification and allocation of trade data. This is done via a variety of functions, consisting of but not limited to the below:


•    Allocation of Australian market executed trades for AU & Asian clients

•    Allocation of International trades for various Asian clients

•    Amendment of allocation information based off client requests

•    Sending confirmations and trade reportings to clients  - time critical

•    Executing FX trades on behalf of Instinet clients trading in the Australian market as requested

•    Performing Market reconciliations to ensure Instinet matches with the market for settlement

•    Performing various internal system reconciliations to ensure consistency of trade data

•    Maintain written Middle Office procedures annually, to ensure procedures are always up to date

•    Managing, allocating and system administration of error and warehouse positions in AU

•    Liaising with clients, brokers and clearers on various trade and settlement related issues

•    Updating new and existing Australian clients in various internal systems

•    Logging of any ongoing issues and clearing them prior to the end of day

•    Invoicing and record maintenance of fail fees and SBL fees incurred by IAPL

•    Monitoring and recording cash transactions through IAPLs bank accounts

•    Often the first point of contact for both Client and Trader queries. All queries are to be followed through to completion, or forwarded to the appropriate person/team for their action

•    Involvement in any relevant Instinet or industry related projects

Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:

•    Literacy with excel and an understanding of macros

•    Previous experience working within Financial Services is essential

•    An understanding of Equity trade flow, from execution to post settlement is preferred but not essential

•    Previous experience working within an Equities broker is preferred but not essential
