North Sydney Girls High is an established fully academically selective school catering for over 900 high potential and gifted students. Students come from a wide range of backgrounds with 93% being of language backgrounds other than English.
Students are highly motivated, aspirational and deeply involved with their school community. A concept-driven curriculum has been developed with a focus on varied and authentic assessment. Curriculum programs emphasise higher order critical and creative thinking and are complemented by extensive co-curricular sporting, cultural and civic programs. Selection CriteriaIn addition to the general selection criteria,
Demonstrated ability to lead teams to effectively initiate, lead, motivate and monitor the implementation of the school's strategic directions and whole school programs.
Deep understanding of the complex curriculum and wellbeing needs of high performing and gifted girls with demonstrated experience in leading improvement in a wide range of evidence-based initiatives and programs.
Demonstrated effective communication, interpersonal skills, and emotional intelligence to lead and support staff, foster collaboration, and build a positive, high-expectations culture within the whole school community.
Demonstrated educational leadership to lead evidence-based professional learning that promotes and strengthens the capacity of teachers to deliver explicit, high quality teaching and learning to gifted students.
- Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
- Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
- Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
