Exciting Opportunity to Join the LC60AI Space Team – Based at Our Joondalup Office, Western Australia
Are you a systems engineer with a passion for advancing Earth observation?
LC60AI is seeking a talented Satellite System Engineer to help drive the design, development, and operation of two cutting-edge Earth observation satellites.
This position is based at our Joondalup office, where you'll be part of a growing team tackling climate, resource, and environmental challenges with innovation and technical expertise.
Your Role
• Shape satellite system architectures, integrating payload, platform, and ground segments to meet mission goals.
• Manage and refine technical and operational requirements, working closely with stakeholders to ensure project success.
• Support detailed subsystem design, including power, thermal, comms, AOCS, and payloads.
• Oversee integration and verification, environmental testing and performance validation.
• Contribute to mission planning, scenario development, and close interface with ground operations.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, from ICDs to test procedures and design reviews.
• Act as a troubleshooting expert for anomalies during assembly, testing, and flight.
• Champion continuous improvement, bringing new ideas to optimise design, reduce cost, and enhance satellite reliability.
What We're Looking For
• Bachelor's degree in aerospace, electrical, systems engineering, physics, or similar.
• Demonstrated experience designing, developing, or operating satellite or space-based systems.
• Strong grasp of systems engineering (requirements, interfaces, V&V).
• Practical knowledge across satellite subsystems – avionics, power, thermal, comms, attitude/orbit control, payloads.
• Familiarity with EO technologies, sensors, and data (optical, radar, IR, etc.).
• Proficiency with CAD/modelling tools (MATLAB, Simulink, STK, SolidWorks, or similar).
• Excellent communicator and collaborative team player.
• Eligibility to work in region and willingness to travel as required.
• Either an Australian citizen or Australian PR visa holder.
Desirable Extras
• Experience with multi-satellite constellations, remote sensing, mission ops, or regulatory know-how.
• Background commercial satellite projects.
• Interest in cybersecurity for space systems.
