Opportunities available to work within a supportive and energetic tight knit team, with a shared passion for dogs, in a purpose-built facility created with safety, fun, and the highest standards of cleanliness and care in mind.

We're looking for a mature team player with experience in handling dogs, with an emphasis in balanced dog training being highly advantageous.

You MUST have experience in dog behavior

  • Casual position Tuesday-Friday
  • 15-30 hours per week, over a 4 day roster (potential for more for the right candidate)

Between the hours of 6:45am-6pm

The Dog Run Daycare is a boutique pet destination located in the Adelaide Hills and a stone's throw from the bustling town of Mount Barker, Littlehampton and Nairne. Our business is passionate about dogs and treat all dogs in our care like they were our own. We pride ourselves on our high level of safety and the amazing relationships we have built with our clients.

Our daycare groups are focused on behavioral management, enrichment, and safety, ensuring every individual in the facility receives the care and attention they need.

The Role

  • Maintain control and supervise groups of dogs, ensuring safety and well-being. Safety is high priority here at The Dog Run
  • Providing canine enrichment and exposure activities on a daily basis
  • Daily Photography and video creation for social media content for our doggie parents
  • Perform temperament assessments
  • Frequent cleaning of the facility
  • Building and maintaining the relationships we have with our wonderful pet parents with open and honest communication
  • Daily check ins and check outs, including transacting payments and upkeep of the diary
  • Communicate relevant daily information to your team
  • You will learn every aspect of the business during the first 90 days with the expectation that you can be rotated to all different areas when needed

About You

  • Previous experience in handling dogs and/or experienced working in vet clinics, training facilities, doggy daycare's, kennels etc.
  • Certificate's although admirable, are not necessarily advantageous. A show of experience is what matters and most important when working with dogs. This can't be faked or taught in schools
  • An open mind and desire to continue to learn and evolve, as you never stop learning in dog behavior.
  • A good level of fitness required, as the position requires you to be on your feet and moving frequently.
  • Outstanding customer service & communication skills required.
  • Available for rotating rostered shifts, and flexibility to occasionally cover other unplanned absences at short notice.
  • Basic computer knowledge (outlook email, word and excel. Social media including Facebook and Instagram requiring filming, editing, and uploading content.
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Able to work independently yet under guidance as needed.
  • Highly observant and have excellent attention to detail.
  • Current driver's license
  • Available to attend an unpaid 3-hour work trial shift
