Job Title: Senior Site and Safety Manager

Location: Various project sites across Australia – travel as required

About the Role:

SSI SCHAEFER is looking for a Senior Site and Safety Manager to manage the on-site delivery, installation, and commissioning of complex automated warehouse and material handling systems. You will oversee workers and subcontractors to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and to specification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage project plans on-site and ensure milestones are achieved.
  • Supervise workers and subcontractors across mechanical, electrical, and controls engineering tasks.
  • Oversee the installation and commissioning of SSI SCHAEFER systems.
  • Monitor and report on progress, quality, costs, and safety.
  • Identify and mitigate risks on site.
  • Coordinate deliveries, inspections, and inventory.
  • Enforce safety standards and stop work if necessary.
  • Conduct site meetings and Toolbox Talks.
  • Liaise with customers and European manufacturers.
  • Ensure proper handover and acceptance of completed work.

What We're Looking For:

  • 3+ years managing large construction sites, including building complex distribution centres and automated warehouse systems, supervising 60–150 workers.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and controls engineering knowledge.
  • Full understanding of Australian WHS requirements.
  • Construction White Card essential; First Aid certification essential or willingness to obtain.
  • Familiarity with SSI SCHAEFER products or similar automation systems.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
  • Independent, flexible, detail-oriented, and pragmatic.
  • Ability to travel within Australia to project sites as required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
