About the role:

The Senior Electrical Power Engineer will develop and oversee the design, construction, commissioning and operation of electrical power systems and components for ongoing projects. This role requires a deep understanding of electrical engineering principles, with the ability to apply them to ensure the safety, efficiency, and reliability of power generation systems and network connections.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Working on all aspects of electrical scopes of work across all phases of a project through to commissioning and operations.
  • Implementing, maintaining, coordinating, and expediting the procurement and construction elements for a designated package of work.
  • Identifying and resolving technical engineering issues and associated problems which may arise throughout the duration of the project.
  • Provide direction and support to site execution teams.
  • Perform overall quality control of the work (budget, schedule, plans, personnel's performance) and report regularly on project status.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs and analyse productivity factors against program and budget.
  • Review engineering deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
  • Support commissioning and start-up of power generation and transmission systems.
  • Provide electrical power system support to ongoing operations.

Your skills and experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar, with 10+ years relevant experience
  • Proven technical experience in designing and constructing electrical systems.
  • Experience and exposure working with network/distribution NSPs.
  • Experience with AEMO connections will be advantageous.
  • Field experience in large scale electrical installations, troubleshooting, commissioning, and construction support.
  • Experience and knowledge of the prevalent high voltage design standard and codes including AS/NZS, IEC and IEEE standards.
  • Sound understanding of electrical protection and control systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Natural ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
