About the roleWe are looking for a passionate Music Teacher (P-10) to join our College from Term 4, 2025.
This is a full-time, permanent teaching position.
Key responsibilities:
- Collaboratively plan and deliver relevant teaching, learning and assessment programs.
- Work in synergy and coalition with colleagues in departmental/year level teaching teams to ensure quality of and accountability for these programs.
- Implement programs with diligence, commitment and sensitivity to the individual needs of learners, differentiating learning experiences and assessment opportunities as appropriate.
- Measure and monitor the progress of individuals and groups of children as learning programs proceed, instigating the involvement of internal and external diagnostic tools (NAPLAN) and the like to determine appropriate intervention.
- Analyse and evaluate information from a range of diagnostic qualitative and quantitative sources to determine each individual's learning progress and achievements.
- Report learning progress, individual successes, areas of challenge and potential strategies for improvement to parents and carers within the framework provided meeting key timelines through efficient and effective self-management.
- Support the development of each student's personal, social and emotional domains through pastoral care policies and structures.
- Ensure compliance with the roll marking policy and procedures.
- Participate actively in ongoing professional learning opportunities that contribute to both the practitioner's personal, professional capacity as well as to the College's organisational capacity.
- Attend committees / meetings as required to share ideas and contribute to the development of teaching excellence e.g., Curriculum Meetings, Departmental Meetings.
- Participate in the co-curricular and extra-curricular programs and use opportunities within these programs to enhance the College's ethos and overall development. This would involve responsibility for at least two of the College's ensembles or a similar load as negotiated from time to time. The actual ensembles would depend upon personal skills and interests and would be negotiated with the Head of Performance Music.
- Teach within the Year 5 Band Immersion Program and/or the Year 3 String Immersion Program.
- Actively contribute to the Outdoor Education Program through annual attendance at camps as advised.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Must be registered or eligible for registration in Queensland as a teacher.
- Appropriate tertiary degree(s) and teaching qualification(s).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Demonstrated ability to build positive and cooperative relationships with students, parents and colleagues.
- Commitment to the Co-curricular and Extra-curricular programs of the College, particularly the performing ensembles, attendance at camps and support of various out-of-hours functions and concerts.
- Expertise in either choral and/or instrumental ensemble direction.
- Facility on piano and/or one other instrument or voice.
- Demonstrated capacity to use and implement Learning Technologies to enhance student learning.
- A clearly articulated philosophy that is synergistic and harmonious with the Anglican ethos.
- Demonstrated qualities of a personal and professional learner; specifically, the ability to reflect on one's own performance, recalibrate one's own practice and achieve continuous professional development.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and expertise in the implementation of pedagogical models appropriate and relevant to students' age and stage of development and/or to the particular discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to foster a psychologically safe and supportive learning environment in which students are encouraged and assisted to reach their full personal potential.
- Demonstrated capacity to work effectively both as a member of a team and independently, in a spirit of consultation and collegiality, including a willingness to operate within shared or parallel leadership structures.
- Demonstrated excellent written and oral, organisational and interpersonal skills including basic conflict resolution and negotiation skills that allow the applicant to engage positively with students, colleagues, parents and the wider community in a variety of contexts and situations.
- Awareness of one's own particular gifts or talents and an ability to mobilise these personal assets for the benefit of learners, colleagues and the community.
- Familiarity with and the capacity to implement programs in accordance with prescribed curriculum frameworks and study designs such as QCAA P-12 curriculum documents and National Curriculum initiatives.
