What you'll be doing

The primary purpose of the Impact and Outcomes Officer is to co-ordinate , the operations, monitoring and reporting of the Cancer Institute NSW's outcomes and impact framework, to identify and generate evidence on the performance and value of the Cancer Institute NSW's investments, and to facilitate effective delivery of programs and research projects in line with Divisional and Institute objectives.

Essential requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in health and relevant understanding and experience working within the NSW Health or other health systems or government agencies.
  • Demonstrated experience in measuring outcomes and impact of projects in healthcare or research settings.
  • Competence in qualitative study design, coding and synthesis and integrating qualitative findings with quantitative results.
  • Strong skills in data management, analysis and communication, including capabilities in visual literacy.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and conduct efficient reproducible workflows.
  • Experience reporting research findings to address policy or program needs.
  • Experience in undertaking and reporting rapid and systematic literature reviews.

If successful for interview candidates must bring original copies of essential qualifications to be sighted by the panel, and one copy to provide to panel.

Pre-screening questions

  • Describe a project where you were responsible for measuring outcomes and impact in a healthcare or research setting, including your involvement in establishing, participating in, or concluding a monitoring and impact analysis program. How did you approach planning the activity, what frameworks, indicators, or methodologies did you apply, what tools did you use to collect and analyse results, and how did you communicate the outcomes to stakeholders to inform program or policy decisions?
  • Describe your experience of conducting systematic literature reviews. Please be sure to describe your methodology and approach, how you established purpose and defined your target audience and how you ensure that your communication is suitable for the purpose? What was the outcome of your activity? What did you learn from the experience?
