The Role

The vision for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is 'exceptional care, healthier lives'. SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.

Responsible for providing effective and efficient administrative support to departments within Clerical Services. These departments include:

• Emergency Department (ED)
• Outpatients Departments
• Day Procedure Unit and Inpatient Wards
• Operating Theater

Responsible for covering administrative duties within assigned departments/wards including reception duties, admissions, medical record management, billing and cashiering duties and accurate data entry for all patient transactions using the Hospital's PAS, ED and Scheduling systems.

Sydney Hospital is Australia's first hospital and dates from the arrival of the First Fleet in 1788.

Today, Sydney Hospital and Sydney Eye Hospitals' state of the art facilities and professional staff provide a unique blend of general and specialist medical services for the public and community, including a 24 hour emergency services, general medicine including close observation unit, perioperative services, specialist hand and eye surgery.

The Hospital is in the heart of the Central Business District in Sydney:

• Directly across the road from Martin Place and St James Station
• Walking distance to various Bus stops
• The light rail is a walking distance on George St and the metro station
• Walking distance Ferry Terminal at Circular Quay
• For Staff who drive to work, subsidised parking is available on site

Selection Criteria

To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the below questions as thoroughly as possible.

• Demonstrated experience in the performance of a wide range of administrative tasks as well as reception duties in a busy work environment
• Demonstrated effective customer service skills
• Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to display initiative and deal confidently with people at all levels
• Demonstrated excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, demanding work environment
• Demonstrated experience using client-related database/s, MS Word and Excel on a regular basis and proven typing skills
• Ability to work independently and as an effective team member while promoting positive workplace culture
• Ability and commitment to work a 24 hour/7-day rotating roster
