Southern Highlands Tablelands, Australia Boys To The Bush Ltd Full time $104,000 - $130,878 per year

Boys to the Bush was founded in 2017 and is a registered not-for-profit community-based charity. Our priority is helping boys to become good men through our core values of engagement, respect and community. We are creating better fathers, sons, husbands, brothers, and employees for the future. Our dedicated team is based across regional locations in Victoria and New South Wales.

About the role:

We are looking for Youth Mentors to work with boys during business hours Monday to Friday, in Young, NSW through our various programs including 1:1 Mentoring, school holiday camps, and school group programs. You must care about improving outcomes for disengaged youth and demonstrate that you can form connections with young people and connect them to the community.

Our ideal candidates might not be the typical youth worker. Maybe you do have recent experience working with young people with diverse needs and abilities, or maybe you're easing into retirement, have incredible life experience, and a bit of time to give.

If you are up for teaching young guys about respectful relationships, being part of the community and doing things like mowing lawns, fishing, barbecuing, or just getting outdoors and moving, then this just might be the change for you. Some of our best Mentors are former tradies, teachers, police officers etc.

We are looking for individuals to be added to a pool of casual employees in Young. Permanent employment may be available in the future, however there is no immediate guarantee of work or set days of work.

Your role would include:

  • Engage directly with program participants in 1:1 MENtoring, camps, and school groups
  • Work with community organisations and help to connect them with youth in most need
  • Plan activities for participants that will help them work towards individual goals and all-round personal development
  • Work with youth in Young and surrounds, acting as an ambassador for Boys to the Bush

About you:

  • A passion for improving outcomes for disadvantaged/disengaged youth
  • You have strong interpersonal skills and can manage challenging behaviours
  • Able to draw upon current and generate new relationships within the community

  • A positive attitude and commitment to promoting the core values and mission of Boys to the Bush at all times

Why Boys to the Bush?

  • Be part of an organisation where you can directly contribute to the community and improve young lives
  • Access to not-for-profit salary packaging including meal and entertainment benefits - save tax and increase your take home pay by salary packaging $18,500 per year tax free
  • Employee benefits including discounted health insurance, workplace banking, and an Employee Assistance Program

  • Lunch provided on days you are working in our programs
