The Support Worker will provide individualised, person-centred support in a one-to-one capacity, with a focus on promoting independence, wellbeing, and quality of life. This role requires a strong mental health background, the ability to work independently, and flexibility to meet rostered hours, including sleepover shifts.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver personalised daily living and community support in line with participants support plan.
- Apply mental health knowledge to provide safe, empathetic, and effective support.
- Work independently and exercise sound judgment while supporting participants in a 1:1 environment.
- Assist with routine activities, community participation, and skill development.
- Support participants during sleepover shifts, ensuring safety and wellbeing overnight.
- Maintain accurate case notes, shift reports, and documentation in line with organisational policies.
- Adhere to all safeguarding, workplace health and safety, and quality compliance requirements.
- Communicate effectively with the team, family members, and external stakeholders where appropriate.
Essential
- Demonstrated experience as a Support Worker within the disability, mental health, or community services sector.
- Strong understanding of mental health needs and ability to implement appropriate support strategies.
- Commitment and ability to work the required rostered hours as per the template (non-negotiable).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a 1:1 support setting.
- Experience in delivering sleepover/overnight shifts. Sleepovers are a must in this position
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check, Working with Children Check, and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Current driver's licence and reliable vehicle.
Desirable
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Mental Health, Disability, or equivalent qualification.
- Experience supporting individuals with complex needs.
