What's On OfferAn exciting opportunity exists for a creative and energetic individual to join our Engagement and Place team at the City of Kwinana. This is a full-time position working in close collaboration alongside the Community Engagement department as well as the Executive and Councillors.

As our new Senior Events Officer, you will be responsible for the planning and delivery of the  City's Major Event program, whilst also providing support and coaching to the Civic Events and Functions Officer to deliver the City's civic events, Citizenship ceremonies and functions.

We are seeking an experienced events professional to manage a varied and diverse workload, between multiple exciting projects. You will take ownership in the development and planning of new and existing events, undertake stakeholder management, budgeting, risk management and the end-to-end delivery of high-quality events.

What You'll NeedTo make an impact in this role, the successful candidate will have:

  1. Considerable experience in a similar events management role, preferably within the local government sector.
  2. Sound knowledge of contemporary practice and policy relating to events management, grants management, and risk management.
  3. Proven ability to self-organise and work independently to plan and prioritise workloads within an environment of competing priorities and strict deadlines.
  4. Highly developed interpersonal, teamwork, communication, and relationship building skills with an ability to provide a high level of customer service. Experience in a leadership role with direct reports will be considered favourably.
  5. Physical capacity to undertake manual handling for setting up and packing down events and functions, delivering and installing promotional signage and materials and other related manual handling tasks
  6. Willingness to work after hours and weekends, as required.
  7. Well-developed analytical, creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
  8. Tertiary qualification in events management, public relations, community development or related fields, or extensive relevant industry experience considered favourably.
  9. Well-developed computer literacy skills demonstrated in report, grant and/or policy writing, record management and correspondence.
  10. Driver's licence, Police Clearance, First Aid Certificate.
