About the role

The primary focus and responsibilities of this role are:

  • Supporting the execution of the Prescription Medicines category strategy to achieve the company's wholesale objectives;
  • Developing processes, building reports and conducting analysis to optimise the product range; and
  • Drive sales performance and improve overall category profitability.

About the Department

The Wholesale Category and Direct Procurement Department plays a crucial role in supporting the business in sourcing and managing products at scale, ensuring Pharmacy customers can access high-quality goods at competitive prices. This department focuses on building strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating Wholesale purchasing contracts, and streamlining the direct procurement process.

In addition to negotiating directly with suppliers, the team works closely with Retail sales and marketing to align business synergies as the wholesale team supports the organisation streamline purchasing processes, reduce costs, and drive sales through well-curated product lines. Maintaining strong supplier relationships and ensuring consistent quality and delivery timelines, the department ensures that businesses can operate with confidence, offering competitive pricing and top-tier products to their customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop reports and conduct data analysis to support the execution of the prescription medicines category and commercial growth objectives.
  • Conduct ongoing market, competitor, and customer analysis to inform long-term planning and in-season decision- making.
  • Facilitate the product ranging decisions based on performance insights, customer needs, and commercial opportunities.
  • Perform pricing analysis and contribute recommendations to meet the wholesale pricing strategy and objectives. Including facilitation of month Iy deals and specials.
  • Develop reports and processes to assist the Category Manager to plan and execute wholesale range reviews, incorporating supplier input, market data, and financial performance.
  • Develop reports and processes to facilitate product portfolio rationalisations.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain to facilitate the loading of new lines. Track new line creation and follow up on outstanding forms.
  • Ensure the data accuracy of Ethical product data meets commercial requirements and CSO obligations.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to facilitate the new product ranging process
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Planning teams on demand forecasting, order phasing, and supply alignment.
  • Develop process to support category-level stock decisions to support in-season trading and minimise excess or obsolete inventory.
  • Track and report on key KPIs including sales, profit, margin, availability, and space efficiency.
  • Proactively identify under performing products or categories and recommend recovery or exit strategies.
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations to support category growth and profitability.
  • Collaborate with Retail, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Operations to ensure implementation of agreed processes.

About you

  • 2+ years in a similar position
  • A tertiary qualification in business
  • Demonstrated strong capability in using data analysis tools, including SAP, Power BI, Excel, and Power Query.
  • Solid experience in a similar role where data analysis and interpretation were central to success.
  • Highly developed attention to detail skills
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • A proactive individual who thrives in a collaborative environment and is eager to contribute to shared goals
  • Highly developed time management skills
