Position Summary

The Bar Manager is responsible for the overall success and operational management of the venue's bar program. This includes overseeing all aspects of beverage service, driving profitability, ensuring exceptional guest satisfaction, and providing effective leadership, training, and scheduling for all bar staff.

Key Responsibilities1. Leadership and Staff Management

  • Hiring & Training: Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard all new bar staff. Develop and execute comprehensive training programs covering service standards, responsible alcohol service, and product knowledge.
  • Scheduling & Labor: Create and manage weekly staff schedules to ensure optimal coverage while effectively controlling labor costs within budgetary guidelines.
  • Performance Management: Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide ongoing coaching, and manage disciplinary actions to maintain high service standards and foster a positive work environment.
  • Goal Setting: Set clear, measurable goals for staff performance, upselling, and efficiency.

  • Financial and Inventory Control

  • Cost Management: Monitor and analyze pour costs, conduct accurate weekly and monthly inventory counts, and implement strategies to reduce waste and shrinkage.

  • Purchasing: Manage all ordering and receiving of liquor, beer, wine, and operating supplies (garnishes, napkins, etc.), ensuring proper stock rotation and maintaining established par levels.
  • Reporting: Track sales data, analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), and prepare detailed financial reports for management on profitability and inventory variances.
  • Cash Oversight: Oversee and audit all cash handling procedures, POS transactions, and end-of-shift cash-outs to ensure accuracy and security.

  • Operational Excellence and Quality

  • Menu Development: Collaborate with ownership and chefs to design, cost, and implement creative and profitable beverage menus, including signature cocktails and wine lists.

  • Service Standards: Establish and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all aspects of bar operations, from opening setup to closing clean-down.
  • Customer Experience: Handle complex or escalated guest issues, ensuring all patrons receive a positive and professional hospitality experience.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all bar equipment (draft lines, coolers, glasswashers) is properly maintained, clean, and fully operational.

  • Compliance and Safety

  • Legal Adherence: Ensure strict adherence to all local and national liquor laws and licensing requirements, including validating staff certifications (e.g., Responsible Service of Alcohol/TIPS).

  • Health & Safety: Maintain the highest level of cleanliness and sanitation in the bar area, adhering to all health department regulations.
  • Security: Implement and monitor procedures for securing cash, liquor stock, and sensitive financial information.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
