About the Position

Reporting to the Credit Manager, the Senior Credit Controller is a key member of the broader finance team, responsible for managing a large client ledger and ensuring effective credit control across the business. In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting cashflow, maintaining strong client relationships, and helping the firm achieve its financial objectives.

Duties

  • Own and manage a portfolio of client accounts, ensuring timely collections, accurate account records, and adherence to internal credit policies
  • Assess new client credit requests, conduct credit checks, and create or maintain accurate client profiles in the system
  • Monitor overdue invoices and follow up with clients through professional, relationship-focused communications
  • Manage and collect outstanding debts, minimising the risk of bad debt and maintaining an accurate collections system
  • Prepare aged debtor ledgers and contribute to reporting and analysis, highlighting risks, opportunities, and trends
  • Respond promptly to client inquiries, resolving payment issues efficiently
  • Partner with internal stakeholders, including Partners and practice teams, to resolve payment issues
  • Support process improvements within the credit function

About You

For success in this position, you will be a confident and proactive Credit Controller with the skills and experience to manage a high-value client ledger while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.

You will have:

  • At least 3 years' experience as a Credit Controller, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment
  • A proven ability to manage a high-value ledger and drive timely collections
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively across different levels of the business
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with practice management or accounting software (such as Aderant) is highly regarded
  • Professional, collaborative, and proactive approach, with a focus on taking ownership and delivering results
