Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission. Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the 'Courts Group'.

The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is the first level of the Victorian court system and is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria. It has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 locations, equating to approximately 90 percent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible, and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.

About the role

Join the ARC (Assessment and Referral Court) Program and make a meaningful impact in the lives of accused persons navigating the justice system.

As an Advanced Case Manager, you will provide client-centred, strengths-based, and solution-focused support to individuals with complex mental health and disability needs. You'll work closely with the judiciary and key stakeholders to ensure clients receive coordinated, high-quality care and support.

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver advanced case management to clients with complex needs, particularly those with mental health and disability support requirements.
  • Attend court regularly to provide clinical and program advice to the judiciary and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate access to services including housing, AOD treatment, family violence interventions, and mental health support.
  • Develop risk management and harm minimisation strategies.
  • Prepare and present written court reports and provide expert advice.
  • Mentor and coach case managers to enhance practice quality.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with external stakeholders.

About you

To thrive in this role, you will:

  • Hold a tertiary qualification in social work, psychology, welfare, disability, or a related field.
  • Bring extensive experience in assessing and managing clients with complex mental health and/or disability support needs.
  • Work closely with clients and the judiciary, preparing detailed reports and presenting in court. Your ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders will be key to supporting clients in achieving the best possible outcomes within the justice syste m.
  • Build strong professional relationships and clearly communicate your work within a court setting.
  • Play a vital role in coaching and mentoring less experienced case managers, contributing to a supportive and professional team environment within the ARC program and the broader Court Services Victoria community.
