About the Centre/Service

Altona Meadows Kindergarten is an inclusive not-for-profit sessional kindergarten providing 3- and 4-year-old kindergarten programs, operated by a motivated and committed Parent Committee of Management. The kindergarten was established in 1977 and is situated in a quiet residential street in Altona Meadows. Our team believe that establishing trusting and respectful relationships with families supports the child's learning and wellbeing at kindergarten. Our program is play based and provides a combination of both indoor and outdoor (we have a large outdoor area) programs with a focus on supporting and extending the children's development, interests, resilience and learning. At Altona Meadows Kindergarten we are committed to providing a child safe environment and all staff must demonstrate their ongoing responsibility to ensuring child safety.

Description

Description The successful applicant will demonstrate an understanding of the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework and National Quality Standards to implement a nurturing and educational play-based program for the children in the 3yo group. The successful applicant will be working alongside one educator in the group. An additional educator will work in the group (funded by SRF) in term 1 The successful applicant will:

  • Be enthusiastic and committed to the children, families, and ongoing success of our service
  • Be passionate about Early Childhood Education and Care
  • Have a strong understanding of how children learn
  • Be respectful to all members of our kindergarten community
  • Have the ability to plan for individual and group learning
  • Have excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Demonstrate a collaborative approach to developing a curriculum with other educators in your team
  • Be able to collaborate and listen within the team and share knowledge and use reflective practices daily
  • Able to form strong and rewarding relationships with the children and work in partnership with families, team, management and the community
  • Conduct themselves professionally at all times according to relevant Laws, Acts and regulations
  • Report to the Committee of Management

Qualifications

All applicants must have the following:

  • Bachelor in Early Childhood Education or equivalent as recognised by ACECQA

VIT Registration

Additional Requirements


• VIT registration
• Current First Aid (including CPR, Anaphylaxis, and Asthma management)
• Child Protection /Mandatory reporting training and an understanding of the Child Safe Standards
• Strong literacy, numeracy and communication skills
• Time management skills
