Perth, Western Australia Kinetic IT Full time $90,000 - $120,000 per year

Kinetic IT is seeking a driven and passionate Senior Security Engineer to join our cyber security team on a 9-month fixed term contract.

In this role, you'll take the lead in delivering cloud security improvements across key enterprise projects, including an Essential Eight uplift and a SOC enhancement initiative. You'll work hands-on across both Azure and AWS environments—embedding robust security controls, supporting incident response capability, and ensuring alignment with industry standards and compliance frameworks.

This role will include

  • Implementing cloud security controls across AWS and Azure environments

  • Contribution to the SOC uplift program, improving visibility, detection, and response

  • Configuration of security platforms such as Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, AWS GuardDuty, Security Hub, and CloudTrail.
  • Vulnerability identification and remediation activities using platforms such as Tenable, AWS Inspector, and Azure Security Center.
  • Serve as a technical escalation point for cloud security incidents and investigations.

Keen to get involved? You'll just need some of the following

  • In-depth knowledge of cloud security services, identity and access management
  • Experience supporting Essential Eight compliance, SIEM/SOC uplift, and enterprise-scale cloud environments.
  • Strong technical background in Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, Tenable, and AWS-native security tooling
  • Experience scripting for automation, integration, and reporting (PowerShell, Python, or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
