Senior Cyber Security Engineer
Location – Perth Airport
Full-time | 2-Year FTC | $140k + super | Hybrid (3 days office / 2 WFH)
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Cyber Security Engineer to join their Cyber Security & Assurance team. This role will work closely with the Cyber Security & Assurance Lead and broader team to deliver security-focused projects, provide technical and compliance expertise, and help uplift the organisation's security maturity. The role is more focused on the compliance, governance, and advisory side rather than day-to-day tool configuration, though there is flexibility to be hands-on if desired.
You'll contribute to projects in both IT and OT environments, support the implementation of supply chain and USB control programs, mentor administrators, and ensure alignment with frameworks such as NIST, ISO27001, and ASD standards.
This is a 2-year fixed-term contract with a strong likelihood of extension. The role will start in the office full-time for onboarding before moving to 3 days in-office and 2 days WFH.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical security guidance to projects, ensuring compliance with governance and regulatory requirements.
- Lead cyber security initiatives such as supply chain risk management and USB control implementation.
- Support continuous improvement of cyber security controls, tools, and processes.
- Mentor and guide junior team members, particularly administrators.
- Liaise with internal and external teams to ensure the protection of systems and data.
- Contribute to the organisation's cyber security maturity uplift, aiming to move from 2.6 to 3.2 on their internal scale in the next two years.
Skills & Experience
- 10+ years in cyber security or information security roles, ideally with both engineering and governance experience.
- Strong understanding of security management frameworks (NIST, ISO27001, ASD).
- Experience with both IT and OT security environments.
- Solid technical knowledge across network security, system security, and security tools.
- Relevant qualifications (CISSP, CISM) are highly desirable.
- Experience mentoring and guiding junior staff.
- Supply chain cyber security experience is desirable.
