JJ Care Services' is seeking a passionate and dedicated Disability Support Workers to join our team.

In this position, you will provide high-quality care and support to individuals with disabilities in residential and community settings, including our clients' own homes and our facility based in Gymea Bay. Our services specialise in supporting people living with dementia and cognitive disabilities and with high and complex support needs.

We are looking for people for both our residential care and home and community care teams and applicants are offered roles in the team that best suits their skill set. Our minimum shift is 2 hours. You must be able to work short shifts as well as long.

What you'll be doing

  • Assisting clients with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks.
  • Assisting with personal care tasks, including showering, bed-based care, toileting and continence management and other tasks. This is a huge part of the role, with over 90% of our workload being personal care
  • Assisting with the upkeep of clients' home and environment
  • Planning and executing meaningful outings and activities in the local community
  • Supporting with medication management, including subcutaneous injections, clinical assessments, vital signs monitoring and other interventions under the supervision of Registered Nurses.
  • Accompanying and supporting clients in community-based activities and outings
  • Documenting client progress and maintaining accurate records, including accurate and regular charting and case noting
  • Continuous learning, development and implementation of allied health and multidisciplinary plans
  • Working with people living with dementia and cognitive disabilities and preparing and implementing meaningful engagement programs for our consumers and reporting on this.

Our facility-based support staff will be working as part of a clinician-led team in a team of up to ten at a time. We have a mandatory rotating roster covering morning, afternoon and night shifts and are only interviewing candidates that are committing fully with no other employment.

Undergraduate nursing or allied health students are encouraged to apply

To be successful, you must have:

  • At least 6 months experience in a similar role
  • Strong work ethic - our homes are extremely busy and we have high standards.
  • Dedication to learning, both on the job and through specialised resources designed for this environment.
  • Willingness to work in a personal care-heavy role
  • Well-developed clinical and non-clinical support skills
  • Experience with dementia and cognitive disability
  • A passion for preparing healthy and inviting meals and the ability to cook and follow recipes
  • Strong use of initiative whilst adhering to policies and procedures where required
  • At least 25 hours availability across at least 4 days per week - ideally willing to work on a rotating roster
  • NDIS Workers Check
  • Working with Children Check (for Paid Work)
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certificate
  • Valid Drivers License and a Comprehensively insured car  - Not negotiable
