OverviewHere at Gallagher Benefit Services, following a period of sustained growth and success which includes the acquisitions of Buck in 2024 and Redington in 2025 and numerous award wins, we are looking to continue this growth by making a number of graduate hires into our Pensions Actuarial Consulting team.
We are recruiting for our teams in offices centrally located in Manchester, Edinburgh and Ipswich and for roles to begin in September 2026. Please note; due to unprecedented interest, the option to submit an application for our London-based positions is currently closed whilst we review those applications already received.
APPLICANTS ARE REQUESTED TO INDICATE THE OFFICE(S) THEY ARE LOOKING TO BE CONSIDERED FOR ON THEIR CV WHEN FINALISING THEIR SUBMISSIONS.
How you'll make an impactTo give you a flavour of a typical week within this role, here are some of the key responsibilities:
- Working within a diverse team of qualified and part qualified actuaries to support our pension scheme clients
- Performing day-to-day member calculations
- Preparing reports, letters, and other client materials
- Assessing the funding level of schemes by performing valuations of liabilities and assets
- Analysing and testing data received from clients
- Participating in internal projects, handling special projects and ad hoc assignments as needed
- Assisting scheme consultants with the consultancy aspects of pension schemes
- Establishing strong working relationships with clients and colleagues, with early access to clients through preparing for and attending client meetings
- Building up consulting knowledge on actuarial and non-actuarial aspects of pension scheme
The longer-term objective of this role is for you to progress towards qualifying as an Actuary, eventually obtaining a Scheme Actuary certificate – which we fully support - and holding responsibility for managing a portfolio of clients.
About YouWe're looking for self-motivated, personable, and aspiring individuals studying a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths) degree subject who have acquired or are on course to obtain a 1st or 2:1 classification. An A grade at A Level or Scottish Advanced Highers in Mathematics is also required for an application to be considered. In return, we'll deliver to you an outstanding training and exam support programme, as well as the opportunity to forge a career within a well-regarded, long-established and highly successful organisation operating in the UK Pensions and Benefit consulting world (even if we do say so ourselves).
Why join Gallagher?
- Your career is our motivation – working as part of small but highly collaborative teams, you get a level of responsibility and client exposure rarely experienced working for some of our competitors. We pride ourselves on providing excellent support at all levels to support your ambitions and drive your career development goals.
- Our dedication involves competitive benefits, diversity & inclusion, and a collaborative work environment.
- Diversity of clients – we work with leading UK and international corporations, across a variety of sectors and industries, where no two clients are the same
- We are client-focussed – we stand out from our competitors by offering bespoke and tailored solutions to our clients, not a one size fits all solution.
- Gain valuable client interaction early in your career - we prioritize providing direct client exposure at the start of your professional journey. This position allows you to build client relationships and develop a comprehensive understanding of your clients' long-term goals.
Unfortunately, these roles cannot be offered as fully remote positions and we cannot provide any Visa sponsorship at this time; therefore, we cannot consider applicants on Student, Dependant or Graduate Visas.
