Why RFDS?
Since 1928, the Royal Flying Doctor Service has been one of Australia's most trusted charities, delivering vital health services to rural and remote communities. Our Mobile Patient Care (MPC) division provides high-quality non-emergency patient transport across Victoria and New South Wales - by road and air.
We're proud to offer compassionate, professional care to patients traveling between hospitals, specialist clinics, and home.
About the Role
Join RFDS Mobile Patient Care and make a meaningful impact by delivering compassionate, patient-first transport services for those in pre- and post-hospital care. You'll be part of a trusted team that upholds the highest standards of safety and professionalism, guided by industry regulations and RFDS values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide compassionate, patient-centred care across a range of acuity levels, ensuring clinical interventions are safe, effective, and aligned with RFDS policies.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with dispatch and healthcare teams to support safe, timely patient transport and accurate handovers.
- Lead by example, mentoring junior staff and maintaining professional registration and competencies through ongoing education and accreditation.
- Uphold safety and infection control standards, ensuring vehicles and equipment are ready, and work practices meet regulatory and organisational requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, using resources efficiently, participating in quality assurance activities, and promoting incident reporting for service enhancement.
What We're Looking For
- Qualifications in Paramedical Science, Health Science (Paramedic), or equivalent
- Completion of 400 clinical hours or graduate year
- Valid Victorian Driver's Licence
- Availability for a 24/7 rotating roster
- NEPT experience is a plus, but not essential
Why You'll Love Working with Us
- Join a trusted and impactful organisation, making a real difference in your local community.
- Work in a safer, more focused environment, with a 2:1 staff-to-patient ratio and less stress than traditional emergency settings.
- Enjoy excellent employment benefits, including salary packaging (even for casuals), generous penalty rates, and overtime allowances.
- Access unique clinical experiences, with opportunities to work across specialist vehicles and aeromedical teams.
- Grow your career, with supportive pathways into emergency care and advanced clinical roles.
- Work in a less stressful environment than emergency/pre-hospital care
Additional Requirements
- Mandatory vaccinations (MMR, DTP, Varicella, Influenza, min of 3 Hep B vaccinations and positive serology)
- National Police Check and Working with Children Check
- Full working rights in Australia
