About the opportunity
AUSTRAC, Australia's financial intelligence unit and anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML/CTF) regulator, is evolving to strengthen its fight against money laundering and terrorism financing. As we expand our regulatory reach, and leverage international partnerships, we work to protect Australia from serious and organised crime to help build a more resilient global financial system. To help achieve these goals, we are seeking individuals who are open and curious about new perspectives, new thinking and new ways of working.
APS5 Senior Officer, International Exchange
The Senior Officer, International Exchange is a key member of the Requests and Disclosures team within the Intelligence Capabilities and International Engagement Branch. You will play a critical role in supporting efficient and timely administration processes that enable the sharing of financial intelligence with global partners. You'll work closely with AUSTRAC's partner agencies — including international financial intelligence units, domestic law enforcement and intelligence partners, and AUSTRAC intelligence practitioners, to enable the accurate, efficient and lawful exchange of financial intelligence. Your work will directly contribute to strengthening global efforts to combat financial crime and protect Australia's financial system.
The key duties of the position include:
- Monitor AUSTRAC's International Exchange inbox and the Egmont Secure Web (ESW) platform to ensure timely referral to relevant stakeholders.
- Accurately record and save Requests for Information (RFIs) and Spontaneous Disclosures (SDs) and other documents to support AUSTRAC's record keep requirements.
- Create records, cases and workflows and initiating processes for response and disclosure of intelligence exchanged with international partners.
- Draft and coordinate formal correspondence for the approval of intelligence disclosures to domestic and international partners
- Provide training to staff on the use of the Egmont Secure Web (ESW) platforms and the protocols governing international information exchange.
- Maintain current records of international exchange data and agreements and develop dashboards to enable accurate reporting.
- Provide guidance to stakeholders on international disclosure procedures and requirements.

- Must be an Australian citizen at the time you apply.
- Will need to undertake AUSTRAC's pre-engagement checks.
- Will need to obtain and maintain an ongoing Baseline security clearance.
