An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced
Project Manager
to lead a large-scale
Windows 11 Upgrade Program
within a major Queensland Government agency. This role will oversee the end-to-end planning, coordination, and delivery of a complex ICT transformation initiative spanning metropolitan and regional service locations.

As the
Project Manager - Windows 11 Upgrade
, you will take responsibility for ensuring hardware and software readiness, managing change and training activities, and coordinating deployment and transition activities in line with government ICT standards. You will work closely with Digital Services and IT teams, business stakeholders, and key vendors to ensure a seamless transition to the new operating environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and deliver the Windows 11 upgrade project plan in alignment with Queensland Government ICT project management frameworks.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in hardware readiness, software compatibility testing, application packaging, and deployment planning.
  • Identify and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies to ensure delivery within agreed scope, timelines, and budgets.
  • Engage and collaborate with business units, ICT teams, vendors, and change management specialists.
  • Coordinate pilot rollouts and enterprise-wide deployments using Intune, Configuration Manager (SCCM), or equivalent tools.
  • Ensure compliance with cybersecurity, data governance, and asset management policies.
  • Provide high-quality project reporting and updates to governance bodies and steering committees.
  • Support user readiness, communication, and training initiatives to ensure smooth adoption and minimal disruption.
  • Manage project closure, including documentation, evaluation, and lessons learned.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience leading
    ICT infrastructure or operating system upgrade projects
    in large enterprise or government environments.
  • Strong technical knowledge of
    Microsoft Windows 10 and Windows 11
    operating environments.
  • Proven experience managing
    vendors, contracts, and technical delivery teams
    .
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across technical and business domains.
  • Understanding of
    cybersecurity requirements
    , including patch management, Secure Score, and CIS compliance.
  • Familiarity with
    Intune architecture
    , hybrid environments, and endpoint management.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Certification in project management methodologies (e.g.
    PRINCE2, PMBOK, Agile
    ).
  • Microsoft certifications in
    Windows administration or system management
    .
  • Experience with
    Intune, SCCM, and modern endpoint management tools
    .
  • Understanding of
    Queensland Government ICT frameworks and governance processes
    .
