We're seeking a strategic and hands-on Head of Facilities & Assets to join the RNA at the historic Brisbane Showgrounds precinct, home to the iconic Royal Queensland Show (Ekka) and more than 250 events each year.

In this senior role, you'll provide leadership and direction across asset lifecycle planning, capital works delivery, compliance, and property operations, while working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure our venues, public spaces, and facilities are safe, functional, and future-ready.

This is an exciting opportunity for a facilities and asset leader with the vision, expertise, and energy to balance strategic planning with operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and delivery of RNA's Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP).
  • Oversee asset lifecycle planning, annual condition audits, and compliance reporting.
  • Manage capital works, preventative and reactive maintenance programs.
  • Oversee day-to-day property operations across buildings, grounds, and public spaces.
  • Ensure compliance with WHS, building codes, environmental standards, and emergency requirements.
  • Provide strong financial oversight, including budget preparation, cost management, and procurement.
  • Lead and develop a small, high-performing team, building a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, contractors, and external partners.
  • Contribute to precinct readiness for major events, including the Ekka.

About You

You'll bring a mix of strategic leadership and hands-on capability, with:

  • A trade or tertiary qualification in Engineering, Facilities, or Asset Management
  • At least 5 years' senior experience in facilities and asset management across large, complex, or event-based precincts.
  • Proven success in managing capital projects, maintenance programs, and contractor performance.
  • Strong financial acumen, with experience in budgeting, cost control, and procurement.
  • In-depth knowledge of WHS legislation, compliance standards, and emergency preparedness.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience developing and maintaining a Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP).
