We are looking for a proactive, energetic, and hands-on Supervisor to lead and manage our general duties (event set up) team

You will be responsible for overseeing the setup of events and ensure that every event space is prepared to perfection. This role is very hands on and involves the movement and transfer of stages, tables and chairs between event spaces.

Description:

THE ROLE

Key responsibilities of this role include:

Ensure all room sets and break downs are completed on time as assigned by the General Duties Manager, Food & Beverage Manager, or the Event Resume.

Ensure all equipment and furniture is moved with the utmost care following strict manual handling guidelines.

Ensure the cleaning and maintenance of equipment, storage rooms, facilities and service areas.

Leading and supervising the day-to-day operations of our General Duties Team.

Develop new procedures and guidelines where relevant to the General Duties functions.

Assisting in the coordination of learning and development for the department, including delivering training where necessary.

Ensure all team members adhere to GCCEC policies, procedures, and Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements.

ABOUT YOU

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

Previous experience in a similar role within a convention centre or hotel environment is very highly regarded.

Proven ability to lead, motivate, and positively influence a team.

Excellent knowledge of room set-up styles and event space management, with a keen eye for detail to ensure accuracy and quality in high-volume situations.

Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office.

Outstanding organisational and time management skills.

Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.

Proven track record of delivering excellent guest service in a high-pressure, high-performance environment.

Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including late nights, overnights, early mornings, and weekends, as required.

Strong initiative with a proactive, solutions-oriented approach to problem solving.
