Are you passionate about supporting families and promoting child safety and wellbeing? Youturn is seeking a dedicated Bridging Families Case Officer to join our Family Intervention Service team. This role is pivotal in preserving family units and facilitating the reunification of children with their families, in partnership with the Department of Communities – Child Safety Services.

About the Role

As a Bridging Families Case Officer, you will:

  • Support families where children remain at home under Child Safety Services intervention.
  • Assist in the reunification of children from out-of-home care placements.
  • Collaborate with families, Child Safety Service Centres, and other support services to meet case plan goals.
  • Deliver services aligned with five core functions: case planning, parenting skills development, supervised contact, inclusive casework, and permanency planning input.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and organise service delivery within required timeframes.
  • Prepare reports and maintain accurate data.
  • Provide advice and follow-up support to families and young people.
  • Work in partnership with government and community agencies.
  • Participate in evaluations and reporting to funding bodies.
  • Maintain professional knowledge and contribute to a positive team culture.

About You

You'll bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Humanities, Social or Behavioural Sciences.
  • Minimum 18 months' experience in the Human/Community Services sector.
  • Strong knowledge of child protection legislation (e.g., QLD Child Protection Act 1999).
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage crisis situations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management systems.

Other Requirements

  • Current Working With Children Check (e.g., Blue Card).
  • Suitability Check (or eligibility) from QLD Department of Communities.
  • Open 'C' class Driver's License.

Selection Criteria

Applicants must address the following criteria in their application:

  1. Demonstrated knowledge of, or ability to quickly acquire knowledge of, relevant legislation including the Queensland Child Protection Act 1999.
  2. Proven ability to communicate effectively and professionally with children, families, government departments, and community agencies.
  3. Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, including problem-solving in complex situations.
  4. Ability to work independently and within a team, managing deadlines and crisis situations appropriately.
  5. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and case planning.
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience with online data-management systems.
  7. Flexibility and resilience in a dynamic work environment, supporting a diverse range of clients.
