Job Opportunity:
We have exciting opportunities for a dynamic and experienced Marine Claims Consultants based in our Sydney office. At BHSI, we view every claim as an opportunity to strengthen our customer relationships. The Senior/Claims Consultant roles are external customer facing, and will be supporting our claims offering within our Marine line of business, specifically Cargo, Hull, and Liability claims.
We are seeking individuals who is intelligent, passionate and who is always striving towards excellence. The successful candidates will display strong written and verbal communication skills, sound analytical skills, and have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively across all levels and disciplines.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Proactively manage a broad portfolio of Marine claims from first notice of loss through to ultimate resolution in accordance with the BHSI Claims Service Standards, which ensure the highest level of customer service.
- Provide clear communication to insureds and brokers, working in partnership to achieve strong results for insured.
- Identify and pursue all subrogation and salvage opportunities.
- Analyse coverage and effectively communicate coverage positions to brokers and customers.
- Assess loss exposures, posting timely and accurate reserves, and maintain high quality files.
- Work closely with underwriters, actuaries and other areas of the business to report on claim developments and trends and support the delivery of BHSI's plans, goals and objectives.
- As needed travel to client / broker meetings, mediations, conferences and other industry events.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- At least 5 years of claims handling experience, with a specialty in Marine.
- Capacity to assimilate and analyse information and make informed, timely decisions.
- Excellent customer service, and written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to negotiate settlements effectively and professionally.
- Ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment.
- Strong time management and organization skills, and ability to manage claims across multiple products.
