Head Chef – Job Description

Position: Head Chef

Employment Type: Full-time

Role Overview:

The Head Chef is responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food preparation, maintaining consistency, and leading the kitchen team. This role requires strong leadership, excellent organisational skills, and a commitment to food safety, efficiency, and presentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all kitchen operations on a daily basis

  • Plan menus and ensure consistency in food quality and presentation

  • Supervise, train, and motivate kitchen staff

  • Ensure food preparation meets hygiene, safety, and quality standards

  • Maintain prep lists, stock levels, and kitchen workflow

  • Control food costs, minimise waste, and manage ordering

  • Ensure timely food service, especially during peak periods

  • Enforce kitchen policies, procedures, and professional conduct

  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen at all times

  • Work closely with management to improve menu performance and operations

Skills & Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Chef

  • Strong leadership and team management skills

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent time management and organisational skills

  • Knowledge of food safety standards and compliance

  • Passion for food quality and consistency

  • Reliable, professional, and detail-oriented
