  • Permanent Part Time position

  • 38 hours per week

  • 38-40 weeks per year - school terms only - school holidays off

  • Shifts between 6.30am – 2.30pm, Monday to Friday (no weekends)

  • $34 per hour plus super

About:

Vanilla Blue, an award-winning Sydney-based catering company, is seeking a dedicated Site Chef to join our vibrant team in Strathfield, 2135. This role is perfect for a parent with school aged children, or someone looking to have better work life balance.

The successful applicant will be joining a close-knit and friendly team, support a fresh cafe-style menu, serving nourishing meals to students at a leading private school.

Our canteen offering includes premium cafe style hot and cold foods, rotating menus, and daily specials. Providing a mix of items such as house-made burgers, salads, wraps, pastas, sushi, baked goods.

Responsibilities:

  • Menu Preparation: Preparing and packing hot meals, daily core menu items, and seasonal specials

  • Stock Management: Ordering, rotation, and stocktaking

  • Hygiene and Safety: Adherence to food hygiene and safety practices

  • Catering: Onsite canteen catering, and small events as required

  • Service: Fast, effective service with a positive attitude

  • Efficient Kitchen Operations: Adherence to Canteen Chef operational timeline, COGS control, and food safety standards.

Desired Experience:

  • 2 years' experience in a commercial kitchen, in catering or batch food preparation

  • Previous experience in school or university kitchens is highly regarded

  • Strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail

  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively

  • Punctuality, reliability, and teamwork

  • Trade qualification in Commercial Cookery (minimum Cert 3) or equivalent
