Njernda Aboriginal Corporation is seeking a warm, organised, and culturally aware Playgroup Facilitator to lead our Yarka Yaka Daya Koorie Supported Playgroups.

Based at Berrimba Child Care Centre in Echuca, this part-time role provides a safe, nurturing, and culturally rich environment where parents and children can play, learn, and thrive together.

Above award salary available, flexible part-time role (22.5 hours per week).

In this role, you will:

Plan and deliver culturally appropriate playgroup sessions that support children's early development

Build strong relationships with families and support them to grow confidence in their parenting

Collaborate with Elders, health services, schools, and support networks to enrich children's experiences

Provide families with information, referrals, and encouragement to connect with community supports

Ensure safe and welcoming environments both onsite and during excursions and bus transport

About You:

Certificate III, Diploma, or Bachelor in Early Childhood (or working towards)

Strong understanding of child development and culturally safe family engagement

Experience in an early childhood, playgroup, or family support setting and able to plan, observe, and reflect on learning and development with families

Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills

Valid, current WWCC, Police Check, driver's licence and food safety qualifications essential

Qualifications

  • Working towards or qualified Certificate 3, Diploma or Bachelor in relevant Early Childhood Qualification
  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
  • Safe Food Handling Certificate
  • Relevant experience in the food preparation industry
  • Working With Children's Check
  • Current Criminal Records Check

Skills

  • Parent Relationships:
  • Actively encourage parent input into program planning and involvement in program activities as appropriate.
  • Provide regular information on program, service operation and child development for parents in the form of newsletters, posters and notices.
  • Provide feedback to parents on their child/ren's progress and alert them to any development issues/challenges

People Management:

  • Supervise unqualified workers caring for the group of children under his/her care.
  • Actively encourage the continuing development of staff involved in developing and delivering the program.
  • Provide formal feedback on staff performance as part of the annual performance appraisal process.

Program Reporting:

  • Provide regular reports (each term) to the Co-ordinator on the implementation and review of the program.
  • Complete within required timelines all relevant program related reports and data collections required by funding bodies.
  • Document and report on any maintenance issues related to equipment and materials used within the program.

Berrimba Planning Processes:

  • Participate in the overall development and implementation of the strategic and business plans of the Centre.
  • Ensure the long day care program is developed and implemented in ways that support the long range goals, objectives, plans and policies, and the vision of the Centre.
  • Participate in the Centre's regular staff meetings and professional development workshops as required.

Experience

  • Experience working in an early childhood setting or similar professional field.

Satisfactory evidence of:

Pre-employment checks not limited to at least two professional referees, proof of identity and qualifications, National police check, Working with Children's, full Victorian driver's license, disclosure of any pre-existing illness / injury and vaccination status in line with Njernda's current policy and procedure, and as applicable – eligibility to work in Australia, professional/regulatory licenses, registration and current good standing, and clearance on aged care banning orders.

Desirable:

Qualified Certificate 3, Diploma or Bachelor in relevant Early Childhood Qualification
