Chef – Kitchen 42 (Italian Restaurant)

Location: Dapto, Wollongong NSW

Salary: $75,000 – $80,000 + Superannuation

Kitchen 42 is a modern Italian restaurant located in the heart of Dapto, Wollongong. We pride ourselves on delivering authentic Italian flavours with a contemporary twist, using fresh local ingredients and traditional cooking techniques. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a passionate Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team.

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Chef who will take responsibility for their section of the kitchen and work closely with our Head Chef and Sous Chef. You will play a key role in preparing and presenting high-quality Italian cuisine while maintaining consistency, speed, and creativity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, cook, and present dishes within your section to the highest standard.
  • Support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in menu development and daily operations.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment in line with food safety standards.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff.
  • Ensure consistency in taste, portioning, and presentation across all dishes.

About You:

  • Minimum 1–2 years' experience as a Chef (Italian cuisine experience highly regarded).
  • Trade qualification in Commercial Cookery (Cert III or above).
  • Strong understanding of kitchen operations, food safety, and hygiene standards.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • A passion for Italian flavours, creativity, and attention to detail.
  • Team player with excellent communication skills.
