Austin Education is a leading educational institution specialising in comprehensive tutoring services for students from Year 1 to Year 12. Since our establishment in late 2013, we have been dedicated to fostering academic excellence and personal growth in our students. Our team consists of 40 full-time staff and over 300 part-time and casual professionals, including subject teachers, teaching assistants, and academic advisors. With campuses in Box Hill, Mt Waverley, Melbourne CBD, Ormond, Point Cook (Victoria), and Adelaide (South Australia), we provide accessible, high-quality learning environments for both staff and students.
We are currently seeking enthusiastic and dedicated tutors to join our team and provide exceptional educational support to primary and secondary school students. Position: Primary and Secondary Education Tutors (Casual role with potential progression to full-time)
Subjects:
English (Years 1-12 EAL/EFL/AEAS):
- Scholarship English and Selective school English
- VCE English/EAL
- VCE English Language
- VCE Literature
- Years 1-9 English
Maths (Years 1-12):
- Years 1-6 Maths
- Years 7-10 Maths
- Years 7-10 Science
- VCE Specialist Maths/Mathematical Methods/General Maths
- VCE Physics/Chemistry/Biology
- Maths competition preparation (e.g. AMC)
Location: Melbourne CBD, Box Hill, Mount Waverley, Ormond (on-campus)
Work Hours: After-school hours, weekends, or flexible schedules to suit your availability.
What You'll Do:
- Conduct group or one-on-one tutoring sessions for primary or secondary students.
- Deliver engaging lessons aligned with the Victorian curriculum.
- Create a supportive and positive learning environment to foster student confidence and academic growth.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure continuity of learning for students.
- Develop and adapt lesson plans and materials using tools such as PowerPoint, PDFs, and Zoom.
- Stay informed about curriculum updates and best teaching practices.
- Prepare students for assessments, exams, and competitions.
Who You Are:
- Demonstrated understanding of the Victorian curriculum (previous tutoring/teaching experience is a plus).
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies to suit diverse learning styles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with students of diverse backgrounds.
- Organised, reliable, and passionate about education.
- Able to prepare and tailor lesson plans and worksheets using basic office applications such as PowerPoint slides, PDF and Zoom.
- Hold a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) or Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration, or be willing to obtain one upon successful appointment.
