Join the Community Mental Health Emergency Team (COMHET) – a frontline service supporting people experiencing acute mental health challenges across the Liverpool and Fairfield communities.

In this fast-paced and rewarding role, you'll provide mental health triage, assessment, and short-term interventions through both phone and face-to-face support.

Being a pool clinician is unique You will be filling a vacancy in the team listed; as other vacancies arise throughout our service you may be required to transfer into another position and share your skills within our service

What You'll be Doing

The Mental Health Professional is responsible for providing evidence-based, strengths focused, recovery orientated assessment and treatment within a multi-disciplinary team and coordinating consumers' recovery plans. The role is also responsible for non-clinical tasks including participation in quality improvement activities, clinical supervision and participation in administrative responsibilities as required.

Where You'll Be Working 

SWSLHD Community Mental Health Services provide comprehensive, community-based mental health care across South Western Sydney.

These services cater to different age groups, including children, adolescents, adults, and older persons, ensuring specialised care throughout various life stages. The multidisciplinary teams offer a range of supports, including mental health assessments, crisis intervention, care coordination, and therapy. They work closely with inpatient services, GPs, and other community organisations to provide holistic care.

  1. Relevant qualifications as a Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Psychologist currently registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), or qualified Social Worker eligible for registration with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), or CSU Graduates: Bachelor of Health Science (Mental Health).
  2. Please provide a detailed description of your interest and motivation in applying for this role highlighting your relevant skills & experience in providing assessment and treatment for consumers of the mental health service.
  3. Please provide an example outlining strong organisational and time management skills, with demonstrated ability to manage competing demands, prioritise time effectively, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  4. Using an example, describe a time where you have had to work as part of a team to solve a problem. Outline the communication skills used and how you ensured the problem would not occur again.
  5. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted
