About The Opportunity
Do you have experience in assessing and providing therapeutic interventions to the acutely unwell mother and working on the Mother-infant attachment/bond?

The Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Service (PIMHS) is a dedicated, multidisciplinary team providing specialist mental health support to women experiencing moderate to severe mental health concerns during pregnancy and the first year of their baby's life. Based at Liverpool Community Mental Health, we service the Bankstown, Liverpool, and Fairfield regions.

Our Multidisciplinary team consists of Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social workers, Registered Nurses/Midwives. We are supportive and encouraging of each other and will welcome new colleagues openly.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of our pool You will be filling a vacancy in the PIMHS team; as other vacancies arise throughout our service you may have the opportunity to transfer into another position and share your skills within our service

Future opportunities may also present at Ingleburn, Liverpool, Ambarvale, Bankstown, Fairfield, Bowral and Wollondilly based mental health services.

What You'll Be Doing
The Mental Health Professional is responsible for providing evidence-based, strengths focused, recovery orientated assessment and treatment within a multi-disciplinary team and coordinating consumers' recovery plans. The role is also responsible for non-clinical tasks including participation in quality improvement activities, clinical supervision and participation in administrative responsibilities as required.

SWSLHD Community Mental Health Services provide comprehensive, community-based mental health care across South Western Sydney.

These services cater to different age groups, including children, adolescents, adults, and older persons, ensuring specialised care throughout various life stages. The multidisciplinary teams offer a range of supports, including mental health assessments, crisis intervention, care coordination, and therapy. They work closely with inpatient services, GPs, and other community organisations to provide holistic care.

  • Relevant qualifications as a Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Psychologist currently registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), or qualified Social Worker eligible for registration with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), or CSU Graduates: Bachelor of Health Science (Mental Health).
  • Please provide a detailed description of your interest and motivation in applying for this role highlighting your relevant skills & experience in providing assessment and treatment for consumers of the mental health service.
  • Using an example, describe a time where you have had to work as part of a team to solve a problem. Outline the communication skills used and how you ensured the problem would not occur again.
  • Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
