About the position

Council's City Futures Department is looking for a Principal Urban Designer.

The main responsibilities will include:

  • Provide expert urban design advice during planning and development applications to ensure alignment with planning controls, urban design principles, and strategic objectives.
  • Analyse and review development proposals to support high-quality built form outcomes in line with Council's vision.
  • Lead and manage urban design projects through all stages from feasibility and concept development to detailed design and implementation.
  • Support the promotion of urban design's value within Council and the wider Frankston community.

This is a full-time position.

About you

  • Tertiary qualification in Urban Design, Architecture, or Landscape Architecture.
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in urban design within local government or a similar setting.
  • Expert knowledge of urban design principles and planning frameworks, with the ability to assess development proposals and provide high-level advice that supports design excellence and Council's vision.

This position is a Band 7 currently remunerated at $111,878.12 per annum, plus superannuation. Overtime will also be paid as required.
