Purpose of the Role:

The role of a Product Manager is a crucial position that acts as the intersection between customers, IT development, vendors and revenue teams. The Product Manager is responsible for the product life cycle, including market research (identifying trends and recommending new product opportunities) to define the product strategy, working with technology teams to define the key product features and to completing ongoing analysis of product commercialisation and performance. This role is accountable to create strong working relationships with internal teams and external customers and partners. They will be tasked to ensure that relevant platform(s) support the company's overall strategy and goals and scheme / regulatory compliance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Product domain: Onboarding

  • The primary responsibility will be to enable new payment products and features for a variety of customer types and scenarios i.e. Direct SME, ISV Integrated Merchants.. This requires work across multiple legacy systems and product brands to deliver a consistent customer experience, and optimised processes that accelerate time to revenue.

Product strategy and thought leadership

  • Thinks strategically about product development to represent the need of existing and future customers, acting as their voice inside the business and being passionate about the user experience. Using a variety of techniques including customer visits, interviews, questionnaires, user observation, workshops, brainstorming, use cases, and prototyping to determine what products and features to build.

  • Understand the competitive landscape of payments and payment-related industries using data and insights to drive the solution and deliver effective feature sets
  • Partners with the local and International product organisation to understand key global developments of product to bring best in class solutions to market and export best in class solutions to the world.

Product discipline and ways of working

  • Lead roadmap planning for owned areas, creating well defined product briefs, managing and prioritising your product backlog.
  • Drive new product design, development and improvement activities by creating well defined feature definition as per the defined product development lifecycle, collaborating with Agile development teams and colleagues in multiple regions.
  • Lead feature/design workshops to drive alignment and creativity in solution design.
  • Own end to end enablement, effectively preparing for and communicating upcoming releases internally and externally.
  • Lead change management processes associated with assigned products, engaging with teams early to ensure understanding, buy-in and optimal operational process are put in place to support any launches of product updates/changes.
  • Manage the product lifecycle, including end of life and withdrawal of products and features from the market.

Target state architecture

  • Consolidate target-state process maps across the product(s) aligning with regional Target Architecture Model (TAM) as defined in partnership with the International product organisation.
  • Take ownership of the full end-to-end. Work with teams and stakeholders to solve product related problems, and own decisions to ensure the right outcome is delivered.
  • Establish and manage third party vendor relationships across the value chain where appropriate.

Drive commercial outcomes

  • Be commercially astute, building business cases in order to obtain funding for product build.
  • Consistently and accurately report on onboarding performance to senior leadership teams to help inform decisions on product roadmap & lifecycle.
  • Create and own the measurement approach for your area, clearly articulating business value for existing and planned enhancements.
  • Work with finance, marketing, and sales to deliver competitive pricing strategies and creation of sales / customer assets.

Experience and Expertise

  • 6+ years' experience as a Product Manager covering the full breadth of product design, development and life cycle management in a hardware or software solutions based organisation, ideally within payments, FinTech or eCommerce.
  • Passionate about delivering great customer experiences and bringing products to life that scale, representing the voice of the customer.
  • Growth mindset to continually refine and improve experiences.
  • Ability to think strategically and communicate the big picture to take the business on your product journey.
  • You are a collaborative operator who can bring together diverse perspectives from across the business and prioritise product solutions to deliver the greatest value.
  • Self-starter who can lead teams in a fast moving environment to drive the product roadmap forward, maintaining momentum on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Commercially minded with the ability to analyse product profitability when prioritising solutions as part of the product roadmap.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complete issues to senior management as well as deals with colleagues at all levels, developing strong internal and external relationships.

Preferred

  • Experience with product onboarding processes, familiar with business process architecture
  • Knowledge and/or experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Being adept in Project Management including experience using various project management techniques would be advantageous.
