Vital Chemical is a recognised leader in sustainable environmental solutions, with expertise in erosion control, dust suppression, revegetation, and water treatment.

As the HSE Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring environmental compliance and promoting a safe, high-performing workplace. You'll oversee the implementation of established internal systems aligned with legislative and ISO standards, while supporting continuous improvement across health, safety, environment, and quality domains.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance & Systems Management

  • Maintain and enhance internal compliance frameworks in line with ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14001:2015, and applicable legislation.
  • Ensure all operations meet environmental regulations, permit conditions, and site-specific requirements.

Audits & Risk Management

  • Lead and coordinate audits, inspections, risk assessments, and reporting activities.
  • Investigate incidents and support the implementation of corrective and preventative actions.

Culture & Continuous Improvement

  • Promote a strong HSEQ culture through leadership, engagement, and education.
  • Drive initiatives that improve safety outcomes and environmental performance.

Training & Support

  • Deliver training and provide expert guidance on safety, quality, and environmental matters.
  • Assist with injury management and return-to-work processes.

Sustainability & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to advance sustainability goals.
  • Stay abreast of evolving legislation and industry standards to ensure ongoing compliance and innovation.

About You

  • Relevant tertiary qualification essential.
  • Previous experience in a similar role (manufacturing industry highly regarded).
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of WHS Legislation and ISO 45001: 2018 (Acts, Regulations and Codes of Practice), ISO 14001:2015 Environment Standard and Risk Management.
  • ICAM (or equivalent) investigation qualification preferred.
  • Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive and solutions-focused mindset.
  • Driver's Licence.
  • Current First Aid.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and OHS Software experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all team levels.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Uphold accountability for safety measures.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external parties.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong leadership.
