About the Role

The Coordinator, Aboriginal Education Support and Experience is a pivotal role at The Gordon, driving impactful student outcomes and strengthening connections with Aboriginal Community. Working from a strong cultural base at the Kitjarra wurrun-ngeen, this role oversees the delivery of culturally safe, welcoming spaces providing mentorship and initiatives to build lifelong learning capabilities.

In this position, you will coordinate a small, high-performing team to design and implement student support programs guiding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learners through key milestones across their education journey and beyond. You will also play a strategic role in negotiating partnerships with community, industry and internally including Student Experience, Education and Finance and Business Services to ensure holistic and responsive support for students.

Some key responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee culturally safe and welcoming spaces at Kitjarra wurrun-ngeen, fostering belonging, mentoring and student engagement.
  • Support students through key educational milestones and transitions, providing guidance, resources and culturally responsive initiatives.
  • Provide strategic advice and input to Institute leadership on matters relating to Aboriginal education, support, and community engagement.
  • Monitoring and evaluating student support programs, ensuring alignment with The Gordon's values, policies and reconciliation commitments.
