We have an opportunity for a DevOps Engineer to join the team at our Sydney Head Office.

About the Role

In this role you will contribute to a high performing team by spearheading cloud infrastructure implementation and software development operations patterns for Stockland's growing suite of analytical applications. Drive critical decisions regarding cloud architecture, tooling, frameworks and continuous integration/continuous deployment pipelines.

This role is pivotal in driving the technical success of the team and contributing to Stockland's broader data strategy. You will champion a culture of continuous improvement and consistent coding & deployment practices. Daily responsibilities will include:

• Collaborate with software engineers and solution architects to design and implement cloud infrastructure to host a growing suite of bespoke analytical applications.
• Create and maintain infrastructure-as-code to automate the deployment and management of cloud infrastructure resources.
• Advise on, design and implement CI/CD pipelines to ensure efficient and reliable software delivery (including for infrastructure-as-code, backend and frontend domains).
• Champion and promote best practices for software development operations, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and general software development practices.
• Identify and resolve technical issues related to cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines in a timely manner.
• Keep up to date with the latest industry trends & technologies, and share this knowledge with the team to drive continuous improvement.
• Contribute to a strong team culture of psychological safety, collaboration, knowledge sharing, and excellence.
• Work with resource augmentation partners to optimize team size and capabilities for specific projects.

About You

We are seeking a highly qualified individual with a tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in designing and deploying cloud infrastructure for custom web applications using infrastructure-as-code. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively with non-technical audiences. Advanced degrees or certifications and additional familiarity with AWS cloud services are advantageous. To be successful in this role you will also have:

• Significant experience (5+ years) in software development and/or cloud infrastructure related roles, particularly with AWS.
• Strong experience designing, implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for robust software delivery. GitHub Actions expertise will be highly regarded.
• Experience working with data analytics or analytical applications is desirable.
• High confidence in balancing technical and business needs when evaluating the benefits of new cloud services, architecture patterns, and software development practices.
• Intimate knowledge of cloud architecture patterns for hosting web apps, particularly serverless approaches.
• Proficiency in languages, frameworks and tools commonly used for infrastructure-as-code. Strong Python experience is essential, and expertise with AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) will be highly regarded.
• Proficiency in working with and architecting solutions with Docker containers.
• Familiarity with observability tools such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Jaeger.
