Salary - $99,938-$110,271 pa plus superannuation + leave loading
Your role
Services and Programs Officers (SAPOs) work within multidisciplinary teams in community corrections' locations. SAPOs are responsible for the delivery of intervention programs and services to reduce reoffending, change behaviour, and support the wellbeing of people under Court ordered supervision. SAPOs are embedded as essential roles in community sites and receive day-to-day direction and support from their local directorate.
SAPOs also work closely with the Strategy & Policy branch, who have responsibility for the governance (and quality) of program facilitation and services.
Program delivery is a key intervention component of community corrections work, aimed at addressing key factors of offending and supporting behavioural change.
What you'll do
As part of the Services & Programs Officer role you will
- Provide induction, assessment, support, case management and reports
- Facilitate group-based programs to people under supervision
- Deliver strategies and programs that promote well-being and enhance the safety for people under supervision and the community
- Undertaking individual interventions for people under supervision as required
- Resolve critical situations by providing information, expertise, support and referrals
- Maintain documentation and case notes on all people under supervision
- Connect with a diverse range of stakeholders - including those under supervision, families, multi-disciplinary staff, and agency members that support our work
- Develop networks with key internal and external agencies to enhance positive outcomes for people under supervision
What we're looking for
- Demonstrated ability and/or experience in delivering group-based interventions
- Knowledge and understanding of the transitional factors affecting people under supervision and their families
- Ability and experience in assessment, case management and intervention with people under supervision with complex behaviour and attitudes
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of alcohol and other drug dependence, domestic violence, pro-criminal behaviours and attitudes, and evidenced based interventions
In addition, the successful candidates need to:
- Be able to work collaboratively with people under supervision, their families, and colleagues from a variety of backgrounds
- Be comfortable and confident in running group and/or individual sessions to people with diverse needs and challenging behaviours
- Be able to act with integrity and display resilience in the face of challenges
- Complete the Certificate IV in Correctional Practice
- Complete all training required to become a group work facilitator - this training is provided whilst employed and is a requirement to be completed prior to delivery of programs to people under our supervision
Essential Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology, mental-health or other human service fields; and/or demonstrated relevant equivalent experience working with family, social, and/or drug and alcohol related issues
- Current Certificate IV in Correctional Practice with the necessary Units of Competency for this role - or the capacity to complete Certificate IV in Correctional Practice (internal training offered by Corrective Services Academy) in accordance with specified timeframes
- Current driver licence with ability and willingness to travel throughout NSW
- Australian or New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident for ongoing appointments

Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW) delivers professional correctional services and programs to reduce reoffending and create safer communities. We house remand and sentenced inmates in correctional centres and supervise offenders serving orders in the community.
CSNSW provides reports and advice to courts and releasing/parole authorities and assesses offenders in the community and in custody for relevant interventions to reduce their risks of reoffending. CSNSW works in partnership with other government and non-government justice and human services agencies to support victims, facilitate restorative justice and promote reintegration.
